"There's a law against everything. That's America." NYPD Counter-Terrorism Bureau Inspector Salvatore DiPace Jr. (February 28, 2012)

"When asked what law they were breaking, Officer DiPace replied, "There's a law against everything. That's America."

Quoted in Robbins, "NYPD Randomly Arrests Occupy Wall Street Protesters At Zuccotti Park" in Gothamist ( February 29, 2012 10:00 AM)

The police officer who so glibly stated that "there's a law against everything. This is America" - in response to a distraught OWS arrestee's question of what law he had broken - is none other than Inspector Salvatore DiPace who is a high ranking member of the New York Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Bureau. This unit has taken the point in "dealing" with the Occupy Wall Street movement. They are also known for spying on muslim students, muslim stores, muslim mosques, etc. etc., in the greater New York area and beyond.

Inspector DiPace's statement was overheard by reporters from Gothamist as they were videotaping what they described as "seemingly arbitrary and incidental" arrests in and around Zuccotti Park on the evening of February 28th. Gothamist also reported that Inspector "DiPace told us, 'The chief wants us to lock everybody up.'" Presumably, the "Chief" he is referring to is Chief Joseph J. Esposito who is the highest ranking uniformed member of the NYPD. Chief Esposito has been in command at virtually every major Occupy Wall Street Event, including the mass arrest of 900 peaceful marchers on the Brooklyn Bridge in October.

The following profile of Inspector DiPace is from the web site of ASIS, a private association of security and intelligence companies where he gave a talk last month "about the state of the art Coordination Center in Lower Manhattan, where CCTV feeds, License Plate Reader data and CBRN sensors improve situational awareness for the Police Department and our private sector partners." Inspector DiPace undoubtedly used the opportunity to rub elbows with security industry executives and line-up a cushy job when he finally decides to cash in his pension.

Salvatore DiPace, Jr.
"Inspector Salvatore DiPace Jr is currently assigned to the Counter Terrorism Bureau as the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative Coordinator. He is a 29 year veteran of the New York City Police department and has commanded the 110th Precinct and Roosevelt Avenue Task Force. He served as the Executive Officer of the 114th and 115th Precincts and the Operations Commander of Patrol Borough Queens North. Inspector DiPace has held other assignments within the Counter Terrorism Bureau, Manhattan South and Queens North Coordinator. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 204."

Inspector DiPace is featured in the following videos on the Orwellian NYPD legendary "Coordination" Surveillance Center:
